Valmayor is a reservoir in Madrid (Spain). It's a natural area with a lot of photographic possibilities about waterscapes and connected with the capital by train (line C8A) and bus (line 661A).

I had been looking for nice waterscapes close to train stations and finally I decided that Valmayor could be a good choice. Pictures like these (by Amparo Hervella) influenced to me to take this choice.

I went to "Las Zorreras" train station, and I walk for 3 Km to the reservoir. My gear: the Nikon D810 with the SAMYANG 14mm and my tripod. I visited the Navalquejigo's old church in my way, where a Squatter movement settlement was been established since 1997 (Spanish press post about it).

The picture of the old church is not very good, but I have not any better. It's a HDR image made with three pictures with different exposition. It was taken with a strong backlighting and it's over-processed. There was orchards close to the church, so I didn't find a good angle to take the picture. A bad picture of a beautiful place.

Close to there, in "Los Arroyos", I found the new church.

A while after, I arrived to the reservoir and I could take my first pictures of Valmayor.

The dam is an interesting place to take pictures. You can walk over there and watch the water very close to you You also have an elevated point of view of the landscape there.

Downstairs we have the reservoir. Waves in the water, thin sand, it remembered me to the beach. A lot of birds fly over its waters. It's a beautiful place.

After view the result, I'm sure about I chose badly the time window. I took pictures during the central hours of the day. Next time I'll try to make a evening-night photo session.
